During this program at the Lassonde Studio at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, college students from around the world come to discover how to become the next great innovator. You will learn how to use state-of-the-art technologies at Lassonde Studios such as 3-D printers, laser cutters and more to create innovative products. You will participate in a 24-hour hackathon to design and develop novel app solutions that will be judged by angel and venture capital investors to win prizes and awards. You will have field trips in Silicon Slopes to visit leading disruptive and visionary companies to learn about new career opportunities.

No Experience Required

Don’t be afraid if you don’t already know how to do develop apps or use high-tech tools. No experience is required for you to participate in this program. Come here and learn how to do these things to jump-start your entrepreneurial career. All you really need is your passion to prove yourself and a desire to become a creative genius.

Program Costs

Please contact us about prices for housing, food and supplies once you arrive in Salt Lake City. Students are responsible for round-trip airfare to and from Salt Lake City. There is a minimum registration of 20 students per school; faculty who may accompany students will cost the same as students.

Lassonde Studios is the home for student entrepreneurs and innovators at the University of Utah.

About the Lassonde Institute

The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute is a nationally ranked hub for student entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Utah and an interdisciplinary division of the David Eccles School of Business. The first programs were offered in 2001, through the vision and support of Pierre Lassonde, an alumnus of the Eccles School and successful mining entrepreneur. The institute now provides opportunities for thousands of students to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation. Programs include workshops, networking events, business-plan competitions, startup support, innovation programs, graduate seminars, scholarships, community outreach and more. All programs are open to students from any academic major or background. The Lassonde Institute also manages Lassonde Studios, a new five-story innovation space and housing facility for all students, in partnership with Housing & Residential Education. Learn more at
