Doman Innovation Studio

About

Doman Innovation Studio is an incubator within the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business providing space for idea, project and product exploration. We work with both for-profit and non-profit companies and projects that have existing transactions and prototypes, providing counselling and resources to help them achieve stability and profitability.

Our studio welcomes both students and members of the broader community. Our meetings are open to the public to observe and understand the incubator space. For our Studio participants, we provide individualized guidance and resources tailored to their unique needs, leveraging the expertise of our team and extensive network. Our Studio cohort regularly meets to track progress and promote accountability, mutual support and peer mentorship.

Philosophy

We believe that entrepreneurship should not be gatekept and that anyone can be an entrepreneur, regardless of their background. Working with projects across campus and the Salt Lake area, Doman addresses the unique challenges faced by our members and their respective communities.

We take a rigorous and growth-oriented approach to advising our members, setting high standards for development, achievement, and inclusion. Our collaborative and inclusive approach promotes success in product development, market alignment, and operational discipline without compromising social impact or ethical business practices.

Our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to realize their potential, create positive change in their communities, and build adaptable processes that allow them to succeed in current and future ventures.

Ways to Get Involved

Summer Praxis Course

This elective course, offered as ENTP 5850/6850 during the Summer 2024 semester (second half), offers a deep dive into the practical application of inquiry, design, and entrepreneurial methods to a real-world business. In this course, you’ll have a chance to experience what it’s like to be an early-stage employee, building skills that can transfer from startups to established companies.

Doman Startup Studio

The Doman Startup Studio is a 6-week, cohort-based incubator tailored to projects that have already shown promise through initial transactions. You have already taken the hard step of launching your project, and want to build operational processes and deepen understanding of your market and users that help inform the next steps.

Doman Discovery Studio

The Doman Discovery Studio is a 6-week, cohort-based incubator designed for early-stage projects in the ideation and inquiry stage. You’ve conducted some market research or talked to potential users, and now you’re curious to develop your initial prototype and understand how you might enter the market.

Our Founder: Curt Doman

The Doman Innovation Studio was founded by Curt Doman. He is the founder and chief innovation officer at Progressive Leasing. He holds a degree in finance from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah.
