NascoTech: Empowering Ghana’s Youth Through Tech

NascoTech, a software company with a powerful mission, is transforming lives in Ghana by providing young people with the skills and opportunities to thrive in the digital age.

NascoTech was co-founded by CEO Banasco Nuhu Seidu and his brother Ousman Umar, who is also the founder of Nasco Feeding Minds. Seidu is also a participant of the University of Utah’s Master of Business Creation (MBC) Global program.

NascoTech’s story is one of resilience, collaboration, and a deep commitment to social impact.

Ousman Umar’s harrowing five-year expedition from Ghana to Spain was marked by immense hardship and loss. This experience sparked Umar’s desire to address the root cause of irregular migration, leading him to create Nasco Feeding Minds. In 2021, NascoTech was born, continuing the brothers’ mission by training young Ghanaians to become full-stack engineers and connecting them with remote work opportunities for international companies, primarily in Europe.

“We have a code academy dedicated to upskilling young people with software engineering skills and connecting them to work for foreign companies,” Seidu said.

NascoTech is breaking barriers in Ghana, with successes rooted in its ability to bridge cultural gaps and overcome initial challenges. “The first hurdle was to demonstrate to foreign companies that the quality of our code was good enough to work for them,” Seidu said. “The early challenge we had was bridging the cultural differences between how the Spanish people work and how the Ghanaian people work.”

The company is adapting to the expectations of their European clients who value vocal and inquisitive engagement, while continuing to empower their Ghanaian developers. NascoTech builds strong client relationships globally by turning challenges into growth, proven by European clients expanding their teams with their talent.

The company’s growth is a testament to the value it provides. Initially, some clients saw NascoTech’s work as a corporate social responsibility initiative. Seidu said, “Now, they recognize the quality and value our team brings. That shift — from being seen as a recipient of help to a provider of value — is incredibly rewarding.”

NascoTech’s impact extends beyond job creation. Through partnerships and initiatives, they provide teacher training workshops with international instructors, facilitate health screenings and medical treatments in the Ghana community, and offer scholarships to pursue education abroad.

NascoTech’s story is a powerful example of the impact of collaboration. “The synergy between my brother’s fundraising efforts in Europe and my implementation of projects in Ghana has been crucial to our success,” Seidu said.

Seidu’s participation in the MBC program has further accelerated NascoTech’s growth. “The MBC program has been a perfect opportunity to scale myself in terms of industry knowledge and know-how,” he said. “It’s a practical program that journeys with you throughout your entrepreneurial process, providing mentorship and guidance. It’s not just a master’s program; it’s an accelerator.”

The MBC program has enabled Seidu to refine NascoTech’s financials, branding, legal processes, and client and worker relationships. “It has helped me put all of my documentation together and prepare compelling pitches for various audiences,” he said. “The program’s emphasis on practical application, with step-by-step guidance from preceptors and tutors, has been invaluable.”

NascoTech is seeking new partnerships, particularly with U.S. companies. Skilled in software engineering, apps, and IT, they are equipped to work across various industries. NascoTech is ready to collaborate with U.S. companies. They are building a pool of talented young professionals ready for innovative projects.

NascoTech’s vision is clear — to continue empowering Ghana’s youth, create sustainable opportunities, and drive positive change through technology.
