Have you ever thought about who plans concerts, manages bands, and captures the energy of live events? For Amelia Weyerstall, a sophomore at the University of Utah, those roles all come together through her company, Weyerwolf Productions. What began as a passion for concert photography quickly grew into something much larger. Through her experiences in the media industry, Weyerstall realized that “all of it is a production, and all of it is a business.”
Weyerwolf Productions is a local media company based in Salt Lake City with three primary focuses: band management, media production, and live event coordination. Weyerstall currently manages the local band Vise Versa while also photographing concerts, creating media content, and assisting local influencers with social media production. In addition, she runs Copper Mine, a concert series that brings local musicians together and gives emerging artists an opportunity to perform.
Vise Versa, a band formed by University of Utah students, has become one of Weyerstall’s most significant projects. She assists with booking shows, creating merchandise, traveling with the band to performances, and helping produce their latest music releases.

Weyerwolf Productions focuses on band management, media production, and live event coordination.
While Weyerwolf Productions stemmed from a creative passion, it requires more than that. In order to obtain clients, Weyerstall was persistent with her networking. She began by cold emailing local bands. While there is fear of rejection, Weyerstall remains confident by reminding herself that “the worst thing they can say is no and you just end up in the same place you are now” as well as “you’re not losing anything by asking but you can always gain something.”
Weyerstall’s journey began during her sophomore year of high school when she started photographing concerts. She was drawn to the excitement of live music and the opportunity to preserve those moments through photography. “Photos are a lot of fun because you’re in the moment, kind of just capturing everything,” she said.
Since arriving at the University of Utah, Weyerstall has received support from the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute through programs such as Demo Day, the Lassonde Founders program, and the Company Launch program. These experiences have helped her grow both as an entrepreneur and as a business owner.
Through Copper Mine, Weyerstall hopes to strengthen Salt Lake City’s local music community and provide opportunities for smaller bands to gain exposure. Reflecting on her favorite part of organizing concerts, she explained, “There’s nothing like people’s faces lighting up when they see a band they love for the first time.”
Looking ahead, Weyerstall hopes to continue expanding her company by managing additional bands and creating a larger event known as Copper Mine Fest. Her ambitions extend even further into the future. While she enjoys every aspect of media production, band management, and event planning, one goal stands above the rest: she hopes to “own a venue someday.”
