Welcome to Student AI Week at the University of Utah! All students here are welcome and encouraged to attend this week-long set of activities and events to learn about artificial intelligence, make connections, and have fun. AI is changing the world, and this is your chance to change with it. The week is hosted in partnership with campus partners and sponsors including the Kahlert Initiative for Technology, Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, David Eccles School of Business, One-U Responsible AI Initiative, Scientific Computing & Imaging Institute, AI4U Club, UIT Digital Learning, Lovable, and more. AI Industry Panel (Hosted by AI4U Club)
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 4-5 p.m. (at Lassonde Studios)
Join the AI4U Club for an industry panel of AI experts and professionals. AI4U is a community of students who are using and building with AI. They will provide an engaging and insightful panel to learn about how to use AI and related career pathways. Attend to learn and network with peers and industry.
Get Seeded Final Pitch Event with AI Project Awards (Apply by Oct. 28)
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 5:30-7 p.m. (at Lassonde Studios)
Watch student startup teams pitch for grants in the Get Seeded milestone funding program. Teams apply in advance to participate in the pitch event. All are welcome to watch. Pizza will be provided, and everyone can vote on who receives funding.
2nd Annual Student AI Symposium (Speaker Submissions Due Oct. 23)
Thursday, Nov. 19, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. (at Marriott Library, Gould Auditorium)
Attend the student-led AI symposium, putting student voices and experiences at the center of the AI conversation that too often leaves us out. Want your voice on AI to be heard by faculty, business leaders, and the community? Students from all departments are welcome to submit to present at the conference.
AI Industry Mixer
Thursday, Nov. 19, 3-4 p.m. (at Lassonde Studios)
Connect with professionals working in AI-related fields and learn where your skills could take you. This student-industry mixer, hosted by the AI4U Club at the University of Utah, brings together students and people building careers in AI across tech, health care, finance, and more. Come ask questions, hear what employers are looking for, and make connections that could lead to internships and jobs.
Vibe-Coding Workshop
Thursday, Nov. 19, 4-5 p.m. (at Lassonde Studios)
Discover how AI tools are changing the way founders build. Vibe coding lets you turn plain-language descriptions into working software, so you can prototype products and test ideas without an engineering background. We’ll explore the tools, the techniques, and the limits of building this way. We’ll be joined by an expert in our community for a presentation and discussion.
Lassonde DevDay Hackathon & Business Pitch (Apply by Nov. 10)
Friday, Nov. 20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (at Lassonde Studios)
Lassonde DevDay is a one-day hackathon for University of Utah students from all majors and experience levels. Spend the day building software and pitching your idea while competing for cash prizes and admission to the DevLab student software incubator. Free food and expert mentorship included.
