Win $30,000 in the 2024-25 High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge

Registration for the 2024-25 High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge is now open. The statewide business-idea competition is open to all students in Utah ages 14-18. Teams compete for $30,000 in cash and scholarships. The registration deadline is Jan. 15, 2025.

The competition is managed by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute — a top-10 ranked, interdisciplinary division of the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah — and sponsored by Zions Bank.

The High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge helps students launch their startup ideas and explore entrepreneurship through feedback, pitch practice, networking opportunities, funding, scholarships and more.

To participate, students can visit the competition website to apply, register for online info sessions and view the competition guide.

The High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge is the youth version of the collegiate Utah Entrepreneur Challenge. All students at participating colleges and universities in Utah are welcome to compete in that program. The Utah Entrepreneur Challenge features $75,000 in cash and prizes for the 2024-25 season.

2024-25 Competition Timeline

  • Application Opens Online: Sept. 10, 2024
  • Online Information Sessions: Sept. 26, 2024, 4-4:45 p.m.; Oct. 24, 2024, 4-4:45 p.m.; Nov. 21, 2024, 4-4:45 p.m.
  • Application Deadline: Jan. 15, 2025, 11:59 p.m.
  • Online Judging: Jan. 17-30, 2025
  • Top 20 Finalists Announced: Feb. 3, 2025, 5 p.m.
  • Public Online Voting: Feb. 5-Feb. 28, 2025, 11:59 p.m.
  • Competition Final Event: March 1, 2025, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

About the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute

The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute is a nationally ranked hub for student entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Utah and an interdisciplinary division of the David Eccles School of Business. The first programs were offered in 2001, through the vision and support of Pierre Lassonde, an alumnus of the Eccles School and successful mining entrepreneur. The institute now provides opportunities for thousands of students to learn about entrepreneurship and innovation. Programs include workshops, networking events, business-plan competitions, startup support, innovation programs, graduate and alumni programs, scholarships, community outreach and more.
