Five student startup teams received $8,445 in milestone grants at the monthly Get Seeded Final Pitch Event at Lassonde Studios for January on Jan. 29. See below for a list of teams and their product ideas.
Get Seeded is a monthly milestone grant funding program open to all college students in Utah. The first step is to apply online. All university students in Utah are welcome to apply for grants.
Students requesting more than $500 follow a three-step process, concluding at the monthly Final Pitch Event, where they pitch to an audience that votes on who gets funded. Students requesting $500 or less — called “micro seed grants” — are funded after a two-step process.
The program is managed by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah and sponsored by Zions Bank.

Ascendant Anxiety Tracker
Ascendant Anxiety Tracker — $2,500
Ascendant Anxiety Tracker is creating a wearable device designed to help those suffering from anxiety take control of their anxiety. Through using the wearable and accompanying app, users can track and analyze patterns and triggers, and share their findings with loved ones and mental health professionals. The Ascendant Anxiety Tracker team plans to use their funding to refine their prototype so that they can test it with more users, gather feedback, and move towards a more final design.
True Adherence
True Adherence — $2,500
True Adherence has created a kiosk that tracks user movement as they engage in weightlifting and training at the gym. The kiosk monitors movement as users perform basic lifts, then gives them real-time feedback on how to improve their form to help users lift weights safely and effectively, as well as keeping the feedback in an app for the user to check their progress. The True Adherence team plans to use their funding to redesign their kiosk with a better camera, and make changes to their GUI to provide a better user experience on their app.
The Prival Foundation
The Prival Foundation — $2,445
The Prival Foundation aims to provide an electric vehicle ride-share to university students and the mountain community going to and from the Cottonwood Canyons, in an effort to reduce carbon emissions. The Prival Foundation team plans to use their funding to rent an electric car and test the viability of their business model through a week-long trial of rides.
Micro Seed Grants
SAR Coordinator — $500
SAR Coordinator is creating software that automatically tracks locations searched, provides a system for communication between searchers and organizers, and provides official reporting and records management for search and rescue teams. The SAR Coordinator team plans to use their funding to test and refine their iOS app in order to provide the tool to more users.
Conifer Software — 500
Conifer Software is an inventory management software platform for network marketing companies allowing inventory management, sales tracking, payment tracking, and inventory transfers between sellers. The Conifer Software team plans to use their funding to target potential users through Facebook ads to build their customer base and gather feedback as they test their beta platform.
