University of Utah student Morgan Menlove is the creator and beating heart of The Menlove Group (formerly called Vamp Pro Services). The company is currently focused on remodeling and landscaping for real-estate investors.
As a freshman at the University of Utah studying finance and real estate, Menlove wanted to get as much as he could from his university experience. He felt that if he were to start a company he could get more from his classes because the learning would be more applicable.
Growing up, Menlove did many jobs, such as mowing lawns, to make money. This is what lies at the heart of The Menlove Group. At the start of his freshman year, Menlove decided to get college and high school students together to work on various home projects together – power washing, landscaping, etc.
The Menlove Group only expanded from there, as Menlove brought his brother along to join the company. Menlove’s brother is a contractor who does general construction, and he learned a lot during their time working together.
The Menlove Group evolved into a home-service company, focusing on remodeling. The company works alongside real-estate investors residentially, helping them to find properties to buy. Then, they fix them up by helping with renovation and landscaping. The Menlove Group has two teams, a larger crew for larger jobs, and a smaller crew for smaller jobs.
Menlove said that he has always been interested in running a business, he just didn’t know he wanted to do this specifically. By creating the Menlove Group, he learned several business lessons and figured out what he liked to do. It led him into real estate, which is now his main focus.
In his freshman year, he attended the Entrepreneur Club at the University of Utah and learned about how to start a company and met new people. Sophomore year, he participated in Get Seeded, a grant program provided by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute.
Menlove hopes to add flipping houses to his business model.
