UEC: Top-10 teams announced

The Utah Entrepreneur Challenge announced the top 10 teams for its 2011 competition today.

The top 10 teams come from universities and colleges throughout Utah. Over 130 student teams registered for the annual competition, sponsored by Zions Bank.

The grand prize winning team will receive $40,000 to help start their business.

The winners of the competition will be announced at the Utah Entrepreneurs Challenge’s final awards banquet on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the University of Utah Rice-Eccles Stadium Tower.

Awards for best-written business plan, best presentation and best speed pitch will be given, in addition to the grand prize. Over $60,000 in prize money will be distributed among these top teams.

The Utah Entrepreneur Challenge is managed by student directors within the Pierre Lassonde Entrepreneur Center at the University of Utah and is sponsored by Zions Bank. Hundreds of university and college students participate in the competition, which awards cash and in-kind prizes to student entrepreneurs every year.
