Company Launch Startup Teams For Spring 2023

Meet the 19 startup teams in our Company Launch program at Lassonde Studios for spring 2023. They are a diverse group of students working in many different industries. Find a complete list below.

Company Launch offers these startup teams office space at Lassonde Studios, cohort gatherings, workshops, staff coaches, peer mentors, and more. All students at the University of Utah are welcome to apply to join the program. Startups are admitted every semester.

The program is managed by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and sponsored by Zions Bank.

Spring 2023 Startup Teams

Argus Entertainment – Argus Entertainment provides DJ and audiovisual production services to the Wasatch Front and beyond, primarily serving weddings, school dances, and private events. Launched in 2020 amidst a global pandemic, Argus Entertainment understands the ever-changing needs of the event production industry and is constantly evolving to meet those needs. From intimate 30-guest weddings to 6000-person concerts, Argus Entertainment handles audiovisual needs in a variety of sectors and capacities.

Aroma Rays – Aroma Rays makes natural, high-quality scented sunscreen for people that want to smell good even at the beach. The products smell like a typical perfume or cologne and will cost the same as other mid-priced sunscreen brands.

BADXBASIC – BADXBASIC is a sustainable women’s clothing brand that focuses on circular fashion. An increase in the secondhand market and a high demand for customized apparel led the founder to create this brand. They focus on sustainable sourcing by using repurposed fabrics and materials to create their products. The main purpose of their brand is to mitigate fast fashion, bring more attention to environmental issues, and provide high-quality apparel to fit the lifestyle of an everyday woman.

Balmont – Balmont is a fashion brand derived from past and present experiences. Influences from the founder’s community and family are incorporated into their work. Balmont cultivates timeless economical clothing that is sold at a nominal price.

Boost Yourself Company – The Boost Yourself Company is based on the founder’s book, “Boost Yourself.” The book’s main idea is to create a better life for yourself by avoiding recreational drugs and creating good overall habits. The next Boost Yourself product will be a journal, but more products will be added. The Boost Yourself journal will be a combination of a to-do list, planner, and reflective journal. Various tips for increasing productivity will be integrated throughout the pages.

Breezy Ski Co. – Breezy is an environmentally conscious ski gear and supply company that specializes in heated ski bags and apparel.

FOAM – The DoorDash for your laundry, Foam is an innovative, direct-to-consumer laundry service for students living on campus. Their mission is to make laundry as straightforward and stress-free as possible, all while disrupting the traditional “communal laundry” facilities found in high-density living areas — especially within universities as, in essence, they are some of the largest landlords.

FullFeel – An online marketplace for homemade food that allows people to turn their home into a food business.

HomeBrew – HomeBrew is an all-in-one online platform designed to optimize the work that goes into forming and developing a company. With universal file storage capabilities, co-work and contracting communication platforms, and thorough company analytics, HomeBrew is specifically designed to fit the needs of small businesses.

In Stride Scholarship Foundation – In Stride Scholarship Foundation is a nonprofit organization that offers financial support and mentorship to aid students on their path to educational and professional success. The founders aim to remove any cost barrier to technical college by providing scholarships to cover the total cost of tuition, books, fees, etc. Their goal is to inform students about the possibility of higher education while supporting them on their journey into a career.

Kurl Up – Kurl Up is a sulfate-free, multicultural, and vegan hair care brand for very curly hair. Curly consumers have seriously lacked substantial hair care in the past. While Pantene and Tresemme are partnering with go-green projects, adding cruelty-free labels, and cutting costs, curly haircare has remained mostly the same since it hit mainstream shelves in the early 2000s. Kurl Up is giving curly consumers more ethical and affordable options by using fair trade ingredients and vegan and cruelty-free formulations.

LaunchWith – LaunchWith is a web platform that connects students who need help establishing their startups (visionaries) with students who want to contribute to an existing idea (contributors). LaunchWith was inspired by the developers’ lack of skills when establishing a startup. Their mission is to take the visionaries’ businesses to the next stage and enhance contributors’ skills.

MSK Living – MSK Living is an architectural company that creates innovative living and housing solutions. The founder created MSK Living in response to the housing crisis brought on by COVID-19.

Organic Vestitus – Organic Vestitus is an organic lifestyle brand that creates hemp apparel. The apparel will differentiate from the current bland, lack of creativity in the current hemp clothing industry. They are working toward raising awareness about global climate issues and the environmental benefits of hemp.

SadieB Personal Care – SadieB is a personal care company for Gen Z girls with a social mission of empowering girls through products that focus on their abilities, accomplishments, and goodness rather than the look they are trying to achieve. SadieB is founded, led, and operated by girls with a girl’s P.O.V. Through products, opportunities, and voice, their purpose is to empower every girl to be an unstoppable force for good. With products like the Athlete, Go-getter, Adventurer, and Creator girls can focus on their goals. They give girls opportunities to learn and jump-start their career paths through their mentorship program. Lastly, they support causes like the Girl Up United Nations Foundation and more.

Savorit – Savorit is home cooking reimagined. They take the work out of finding new creative recipes, getting groceries, and cooking your meal. Their app lets you choose your cooking preferences, find new recipes, and pick up groceries without having to wander through the store. You start by choosing any meal preferences and dietary restrictions, then you can swipe right on meals that look delicious and left on meals that don’t to compile a meal plan based on your choices and automatically create a shopping list. The app connects to a local grocery pick-up service using APIs, so all you do is approve the order and pick up your groceries at the store on the way home. Finally, they give you step-by-step recipes to cook fast and easy dinners.

The Roasting Cabin – The Roasting Cabin plans to source several coffee machines and place them around campus in locations that are convenient for students. The idea came after the founders spent time in Europe and found that there are always people lined up at coffee vending machines. Their machines will serve a variety of hot beverages for affordable prices, without cutting corners with quality. They will source high-quality beans and with the help of their innovative machine, will be able to produce top-of-the-line coffee products.

WHAT iF – WHAT iF sells one-of-a-kind pieces of sterling silver jewelry. The founder is a silversmith trying to make a difference in the jewelry industry. Their goal is to be 100% sustainable and implement recycling to keep metals out of landfills.

Zducate – Zducate is digitalizing the Indian education system by recording classroom lectures for students to view at their leisure.
