The University of Utah’s Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute is one step closer to becoming an international destination for student entrepreneurs, innovators and “makers” today as it breaks ground on the Lassonde Studios. The five-floor, 148,000-square-foot building will merge more than 400 student residences with a 20,000-square-foot “garage” open for any student to attend events, build prototypes, launch companies and more.
The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute hosted a guest talk on the “Internet of Things” by PTC CEO Jim Heppelmann.
All are welcome to the “Sneak Peek and Groundbreaking” event for the Lassonde Studios at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10 at the construction site east of the Carolyn Tanner Irish Humanities Building (215 S. Central Campus Dr.). The event will feature virtual 3D tours, prototype “living pods,” student showcase, presentations and more.
The Bench-to-Bedside competition is an exciting and vibrant program designed to introduce health science students, engineering students and business students to the world of medical device innovation. The public is invited to join us on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. for a groundbreaking ceremony and celebration for the Lassonde Studios building, the new home for student entrepreneurs and innovators at the University of Utah.
