Application Process

[UPDATED: 9-23-24]

Below is the general application process for living at Lassonde Studios. Contact us with questions. Submit a Lassonde Studios application here.

1. Apply to the University of Utah (new students only)

Only students admitted to the University of Utah can live at Lassonde Studios. But we strongly encourage you to submit a Lassonde Studios application as soon as you can, even if you haven’t been admitted to the U yet. This allows us to review your application while you’re waiting for admissions acceptance. Find more campus admissions information here.

2. Complete the Lassonde Studios application

The application to live at Lassonde Studios is open all year. All incoming and current U students can apply. We encourage you to apply during our priority application period (which is generally from August to early January for the following academic year). After this period, students are accepted as rooms become available. When all rooms are reserved, applications are placed on a waitlist. Note the Lassonde Studios application is supplemental to the general campus housing application and process through Housing & Residential Education. Submit a Lassonde Studios application here.

3. Start an application with Housing & Residential Education

In addition to completing a Lassonde Studios application with us, you must start a general campus housing application with our partners at Housing & Residential Education (HRE) and pay a one-time application fee. To do this, you must be admitted to the U and have a university identification number (uNID). Learn more about the HRE application and timeline here. This application opens later than the Lassonde Studios application, and the timeline varies for first-year and upper-class students. Start a general campus housing application on the HRE website here.

4. Choose your room

Students accepted to live at Lassonde Studios can select a room starting in spring semester. Times will vary depending on your student status. This is done through the Housing & Residential Education application system (Housing U). Note that accepted students will have a limited period of time to select a room at Lassonde Studios before a spot is offered to another student. Find more housing reservation information here.

5. Move into Lassonde Studios

Students move in for the academic year starting in August. Other students can move in as rooms are available and will be notified about the appropriate date.

6. Live. Create. Launch.
