Bike Storage
Indoor bike storage is available for a fee. Students can sign up for bike storage online. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Learn more at housing.utah.edu/optional-services.
Cleaning Services
Custodial staff will clean common areas of your community on a regular basis. These areas include: living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways in cluster and pod areas. Staff will not enter private spaces.
Cleaning Buckets
Cleaning and sanitation supplies are available for residents to use. Cleaning buckets can be checked out at the front desk. Buckets include: glass cleaner, all-purpose cleaner and disinfectant, gloves, and towels.
Connections Boards
Looking for a collaborator or have a skill to offer? Use the connections whiteboards on the first floor of Lassonde Studios. Write your name, skill sought or provided, and start connecting!
Dining
Meal Plans
As a student, you have plenty to worry about without thinking about breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Let us do the shopping, cooking, and cleaning for you! When you live on campus, you can choose from a variety of meal plans. Learn more at housing.utah.edu/dining.
Students in single and double rooms are required to have a meal plan. Students in pods and lofts have the option of signing up for a meal plan. You can sign up for a meal plan in your Housing U account through CIS at cis.utah.edu.
Miller Cafe
The Miller Cafe at Lassonde Studios is a great food option for residents. Choose from a wide variety of meal options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and enjoy one of many snack items. Email Newsletter & Social Media
Residents receive a regular email newsletter alerting you to all the upcoming Lassonde events and latest news. Students also can get updates by following the Lassonde Institute on social media. Find links at lassonde.utah.edu/follow.
Events Calendar
All students have access to an online events calendar that outlines all upcoming events at the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and Lassonde Studios. Visit lassonde.utah.edu/calendar.
Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA)
Housing & Residential Education is obligated to protect student information in accordance with FERPA. If you would like to allow individuals to access your Housing U account to pay your bill, you will need to release your FERPA rights through Housing U in CIS. FERPA only allows others access to the student’s relevant financial information. Additionally, FERPA applies to minors enrolled in the university. Once logged in, select “FERPA Consent Release Form,” check Housing & Residential Education as an area of release, and create a pin. Please remember to only share your PIN with people whom you would like to have access to your account. Contact the Office of the Registrar for more information about FERPA.
Fire Pit & Grill
Residents have access to an outdoor fire pit and barbecue. Inquire at the front desk about availability and restrictions.
Games & Activities
We have a variety of games available to residents at the front desk, including tabletop games, video game consoles, and pool and ping pong tables. Outside, residents have easy access to sand volleyball and basketball courts.

Hospitality Desk Services
The Lassonde Studios hospitality desk is located on the first floor and open 24 hours a day to serve you and answer any questions you may have. Call the front desk at 801-213-8700.
Resource Checkout

Hub & Community Corner
All students are welcome to Housing & Residential Education’s Hub and Community Corner. Residential peer mentors who staff these spaces support residents in building community, creating a sense of belonging, and connecting to campus resources. Find this resource on the ground level of Benchmark 820 and the first floor of Kahlert Village.
Internet
Register & Connect Your Devices
There is Wi-Fi access in every building on campus. To determine which network your device should connect to, visit onboard.utah.edu. Please do not install a personal router or access point. For questions or issues, check it.utah.edu/help, or contact the Campus Help Desk at 801-581-4000×1.
Wired Internet Connection
Your room also has a wired internet connection available. If you would like to utilize this, please call the Help Desk 801-581-4000×1 to activate the wall port. That’s it! You will need to provide an ethernet cable to connect to your computer. If the wall jack/plate looks broken, please fill out a maintenance request or call 801-587-2002.
Be a Good Wireless Steward
Dos: Use UConnect, use wired connection, use ULink for gaming devices, contact Campus Help Desk for assistance connecting devices.
Don’ts: Bring personal Wi-Fi routers and hotspots, use wireless printers, connect wireless media players (Apple TV, Chromecast, etc.) as wired.
Key & Door Access
Your room key and UCard allow you to access your room and building and should never be shared with anyone. If you misplace one, you can borrow a loaner from the Lassonde Studios front desk. Loaner keys and temporary access cards are free for 30 minutes or can be checked out for up to seven days for a $10 fee. If you lose your key, we will change your locks and charge you a replacement fee ($125). If you need a new UCard, please visit the UCard office in the Union Building.
Kitchens
All residents in Lassonde Studios have access to a kitchen. Pod communities and loft apartments have their own kitchens. Single and double rooms have a shared kitchen in the community makerspace on each floor. Single and double rooms are required to have meal plans, but you can use the kitchen to cook your own meals from time to time.
Lassonde 400 Facebook Group
Residents are welcome to join an exclusive Facebook group to collaborate with other residents. Search Facebook for “Lassonde 400.” The L9 group for residents during the 2024-25 academic year can be found at facebook.com/groups/Lassonde400L9.
Lassonde Founders
The Lassonde Founders program brings together the best student entrepreneurs from across the nation to live, create, and launch together at Lassonde Studios. It is a residential scholarship program for active undergraduate entrepreneurs that want to launch or grow a company. Learn more and apply at lassonde.utah.edu/founders.
Laundry
We have free laundry facilities on each floor of Lassonde Studios. Don’t forget to bring laundry detergent!
Libraries
The University of Utah offers several libraries. The biggest and main one is the J. Willard Marriott Library. Learn more at lib.utah.edu.
All students who live on campus are issued a mailing address. You can mail packages and paper mail to this address. Your mailing address follows this format:

Mail is processed daily by the mailroom, and you will be notified by email when something has arrived for you. You will receive an email once your package has been processed notifying you of when and where to pick it up. Packages are only kept for seven days before being returned. Perishable items are only kept for 24 hours.
Note: We cannot share addresses with friends, parents, or family members. Please share your address as needed so that care packages or other fun items find their way to you.
Maintenance & Repairs
Is something broken or need attention? Submit a service ticket for our maintenance and custodial staff at lassonde.utah.edu/maintenance.
Make Program
Utilize our wood and metal shop by getting safety trained. Other tools and resources are available at any time the Make Space is open. You can find more information online at lassonde.utah.edu/make.
Makerspaces
Lassonde Studios has numerous makerspaces on the public first floor and on each residential floor. Collaborate, study, and meet here.
Meetups
Do you have an idea for a gathering or activity you want to host at Lassonde Studios? We want to hear about it. Submit your idea online, let us know what space and resources you need, and we will do what we can to help you make it happen! Submit your idea at lassonde.utah.edu/meetups.

Parking
You likely won’t need a car while living on campus. We strongly encourage you to consider alternate transportation methods rather than bringing a car with you to campus. If you choose to bring a vehicle, you will need to purchase a parking permit from Commuter Services.
Parking lots are designated with specific codes for different permit types. Guest passes are available for visitors. Learn more at commuterservices.utah.edu and at housing.utah.edu/living-the-u/parking-transportation.
Paying Your Bill
All housing and meal-plan charges are included with your tuition bill. This bill will be paid through the Office of the Bursar. The HRE office will not accept payments. You can view your tuition bill online in CIS. All housing and meal plan charges are due when tuition is due, unless you have signed up for a payment plan. Printing
Printing is available on the first floor of Lassonde Studios at the printer near the front desk for a fee using the campus-wide RedPrint service. Students use money from their UCard to print. Large-format printing is also available in the Make Space when it is open. Learn more about RedPrint and find instructions at copiers.utah.edu.
Residential Engagement Staff
A professional general manager works on-site at Lassonde Studios to help ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents. Among other duties, they work with student leaders who create and manage resident experience opportunities. For assistance, call 801-213-8700.
Residential Programs
Residents get access to all public events, plus they get additional access to resident-only events and activities. Watch for events here: lassonde.utah.edu/calendar.
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
The Residence Hall Association is the student government for students living on campus. RHA has multiple student boards that meet weekly if you want to get involved. Learn more at housing.utah.edu/living-the-u/get-involved.
Safety & Security
University Police & Security are here to help make your experience on campus a safe and pleasant one by doing patrols, safeguarding your security, and offering programs and resources. For emergencies please call 911. For non-emergencies, contact 801-585-COPS, or visit publicsafety.utah.edu.
Campus Courtesy Escort
Campus courtesy escorts are always available as a resource to students while on campus. You can request an escort to your residence hall, car, or any campus building. Courtesy escorts are operated by university security personnel and may include campus police officers. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 801-585-COPS.
Campus Alert
The Campus Alert system sends text messages to notify students of any safety threats, weather conditions, or other important updates to keep students informed. This system is also used to send any housing specific instructions to residents. All students are automatically signed up for this service. Visit alert.utah.edu to learn more.
Incident Reports
Residents can submit an incident report if they witness or experience any unusual behavior or activity. Staff review reports and take appropriate actions. Submit a report at bit.ly/uu-incident.
SafeRide
SafeRide is a free after-hours service for students managed by Commuter Services. It is operated by university student employees. SafeRide functions similarly to other rideshare programs like Uber or Lyft but only operates within university boundaries, Monday-Friday, 6 p.m.- 12:30 a.m. Students may request a ride by downloading the TransLoc app and following the prompts.
Software
All University of Utah students have access to a wide variety of free and specially priced software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, Zoom, MATLAB, and more. Browse available software at software.utah.edu.
Startup Office Space (Company Launch)
All students are welcome to apply for startup office space at Lassonde Studios through our Company Launch program. Learn more and apply at lassonde.utah.edu/launch.
Student Life Center (Recreation)
The University of Utah has a state-of-the-art recreation facility called the Student Life Center. The facility is a stone’s throw from Lassonde Studios, and your UCard will allow you free access to the facility. Learn more at campusrec.utah.edu.
Sustainability & Recycling
We are committed to sustainability and encourage students to get involved. Participate by recycling, conserving, and applying for a Sustainable Campus Initiative Fund grant or learning about the Sustainability Resource Center at sustainability.utah.edu.
Television
TVs with cable are available in shared community spaces. Cable or TV streaming service in personal rooms is not a part of a resident’s housing bill. However, students can sign up for in-room television streaming provided by Xfinity as an optional service. TVs are provided in pod and loft bedroom types. Themed Floor Access
Residents get access to all four themed residential floors. The themes are Sustainability & Global Impact; Products, Design & Arts; Adventure & Gear; and Games & Digital Media.
Tobacco-Free Campus
The University of Utah is a tobacco-free campus. Smoking and the use of any tobacco product (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited on all university property and in any outdoor area controlled by the university. These areas include all university residence halls and apartment buildings. This rule is applicable 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To get help quitting, please visit tobaccofree.utah.edu.
Transportation
Campus Shuttles
Campus shuttles are a free and convenient weekday service for you and campus guests! Shuttles have a late-night service as well with a reduced schedule, but they do not run on the weekends or holidays.
The campus shuttle system transports students all over campus. This free service is especially useful for on-campus residents. For routes and information: commuterservices.utah.edu.
To track all campus shuttle locations live, view estimated times of arrival, and find nearest stops, visit uofubus.com or download the Ride Systems app available in the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
Public Transportation
Being a student at the U gives you free access to all public transportation (bus, TRAX, Frontrunner) in Salt Lake City. Just use your student ID. Learn more at commuterservices.utah.edu/uta.
Bicycle Parking & Registration
The university offers free outdoor bicycle parking within 50 feet of almost every building. Cyclists are also welcome to utilize the secure bicycle lockers located at certain buildings and parking garages. Visit map.utah.edu to find bicycle parking options near you. Bicycles locked to anything other than bicycle racks will be impounded.
U community members can register bicycles, which can aid in the recovery and return of the item, through University Police. Visit police.utah.edu/property-registration.
UCard
You’ll need your UCard for a lot of things on campus, including to access your residential community! You will receive your UCards either at orientation or during your assigned move-in time in August. To replace a lost UCard, please stop by the UCard office in the Union Building, room #158.
