Six student startup teams received $5,460 in Get Seeded milestone grants in the round ending in July 2022. See below for a list of teams and their product ideas.
The final event for the regular grants was hosted at Lassonde Studios. It included live startup pitches, free food, and public voting to see who received grants.
Get Seeded is a milestone grant funding program open to all college students in Utah. The first step is to apply online. All university students in Utah are welcome to apply for grants.
Students requesting more than $500 follow a three-step process, concluding at the final pitch event, where they pitch to an audience that votes on who gets funded. Students requesting $500 or less — called microgrants — are funded after a two-step process.
The program is managed by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah and sponsored by Chad and Kristen Anselmo.

Regular Grants
Off the Rack (University of Utah) — $1,500
Off the Rack provides young student entrepreneurs an opportunity to gain exposure for their sustainable fashion business or startup. After noticing a big increase in the number of young fashion entrepreneurs at the University of Utah, the founder decided to create an opportunity for them to not only sell their products and gain exposure for their businesses/brands, but most importantly, to promote sustainable fashion within our community.
Lybb Tech (University of Utah) — $1,500
Each year one out of four seniors falls, resulting in 8 million fall injuries per year and ~$50 billion in unnecessary medical costs. Lybb Tech has created a safer walker for the elderly that can detect imminent falls and automatically apply the walker brakes to prevent them. We call it the Guardian Walker. This product will save tens of thousands of lives and significantly reduce fall-related healthcare costs.
ADVANCE (University of Utah) — $1,500
ADVANCE is a company that makes a connection between founders and contributors who want to help founders. Most startup founders cannot start their startup idea alone. They might need help from other fields. The contributors, who want to enhance their careers, generally face the problem of a lack of information to get involved in new startups. Therefore, ADVANCE solves the problem that student founders and contributors face.
Microgrants
Frederico Tremonti (University of Utah) — $460
This student is developing a recommender system that uses machine learning to recommend companies to investors based on their preferences and engagement — like a Tinder for angel investment.
