Red Touch Media, the technology company behind the fastest-growing digital media content management platform in the entertainment industry, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge. The Salt Lake City, Utah based company will be an “Innovator Sponsor” of this year’s competition, donating $150,000 worth of in-kind sponsorship funds. The final stage of the series, the Utah Entrepreneur Challenge, has become one of the largest business plan competitions in the country. The series is operated by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah’s David Eccles School of Business.
The Utah Entrepreneur Challenge (UEC) focuses on the creation of a comprehensive business plan, which will be judged by professionals within the Utah business community, including Chairman and CEO of Red Touch Media, Wayne Scholes. The UEC represents the largest student business plan competition in the United States, typically attracting over 240 team submissions and over 2,000 competitors. Participants in the Challenge often move on to create successful business start-ups, and the winning business plan will be given $40,000 to go towards their idea and business model. The UEC also offers incomparable mentorship and an excellent proving ground for business concepts.
The contest has proven successful to many businesses, including Red Touch Media. In 2013 the company acquired the 2002 UEC first place winner, Mediaport, giving Red Touch Media the ability to protect and distribute licensed movies, TV shows, music, games and books across its global network.
“We could not be happier to be a part of such a well-renowned program and competition,” said Wayne Scholes, Chairman and CEO of Red Touch Media. “To work with the University of Utah and to be able to contribute to the ideas and concepts presented is something that we are fortunate to be able to do. This is a very important program to our organization and we couldn’t’ be happier to be a part of it; I’m thrilled to be at the awards this year.“
The “Innovator Sponsorship” will help fund office space for up to six months as well as Marketing and Finance starter packages. The Sponsorship will also include legal counseling and ongoing consultation services with Red Touch Media’s award winning marketing team. The awards will take place on April 15th at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
