True Gentleman, a local haberdashery and University of Utah student startup, recently announced the opening of its flagship store location. The VIP ribbon-cutting event will occur on Sept. 12, 11 a.m., at the storefront located at 1270 S. 1100 East, Suite 101, in Salt Lake City. A vendor/media event will be held on Sept. 13 at the store to showcase the new storefront beginning at 4 p.m. The store will then be open to current clientele and the public on Sept. 14 at 11 a.m.
The flagship store opening brings to fruition a long awaited goal of University of Utah student and Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute participant and founder of True Gentleman, Trapper Roderick. He founded True Gentleman in 2013 after raising money through a Lassonde grant program called Get Seeded. The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute provides students with the opportunities to become innovative entrepreneurs.
“We are proud to support student entrepreneurs like Trapper,” said Thad Kelling, a spokesperson for the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute.” We invite students from all majors and ages to get involved in our many programs to launch companies, follow their dreams and learn by doing. True Gentleman is a great example of what students can accomplish when they put their minds to it.”
With the support of the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, Roderick and his team have created a showroom with an upscale lounge atmosphere, where True Gentleman suits will be displayed and will also be available for clients to use as a business meeting location. With the grand opening True Gentleman will offer special pricing to companies wanting to show their appreciation for their clients or employees and also to University of Utah staff and students.
