The Feb. 21. deadline is coming up fast for your chance to win some serious equity-free cash for your business idea.
The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah is hosting the annual Utah Entrepreneur Challenge, which is open to all Utah universities to enter. The competition is sponsored by Zions Bank. It is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, student startup competitions in the state. This year, there will be a Grand Prize of $40,000 to the top startup that submits the best business model.
Last year, U medical student Ben Fogg received a check for $40,000 to go toward his startup, Through the Cords. His team invented a medical device that helps with breathing tubes. “The device, an introducer and breathing tube, makes it easier to insert the breathing tubes safely, to reduce injuries, deaths and associated costs,” Fogg said. They have since used the prize money to help them reach FDA approval.
Do you have a business idea to pitch? There’s a lot more to win besides the Grand Prize. Thousands of dollars and in-kind prizes go toward other awards like Best Speed Pitch, Best Technology, People’s Choice Award, Bootstrap Award and much more.
What are you waiting for? It’s free money. Take advantage of this while you’re still a student, and take your business to the next level. Learn more and register at lassonde.utah.edu/uec.
