Get Seeded Awards $5,910 in Grants for October

Three student startup teams received $5,910 in milestone grants at the Get Seeded Final Pitch Event in October 2018 at Lassonde Studios. See below for a list of teams and their product ideas.

Get Seeded is a monthly milestone grant funding program open to all college students in Utah. The first step is to apply online. Top teams advance to the Final Pitch Event, where they pitch to an audience that votes on who gets funded. All university students in Utah are welcome to apply for grants.

The program is managed by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah and sponsored by Zions Bank.

Family Friendly Utah is providing answers to parents for those times when children ask, “What are we going to do today?” This app will centralize information about family-friendly events and activities happening around the Salt Lake valley. For parents seeking specific activities, this app offers a search function where the community can update and rank the operational status of public facilities

NipaYe  – $2,500

NipaYe is seeking to revolutionize the breastfeeding industry by radically improving the comfort, cleanliness and ease-of-use of breastfeeding aids. The funds the team received will go towards a functional prototype. This is the next step in NipaYe’s journey to prove the concept and disrupt the breastfeeding industry.

SitUp

Sit Up – $1,760

SitUp is an adjustable bed pad that combines the convenient size of a wedge pillow with the flexibility of an adjustable bed. SitUp further differentiates itself by offering an affordable and easily portable product. The team has a final prototype in progress and is planning to move forward with a marketing campaign to begin developing awareness around SitUp.
