The best resource in the Make Space are the student tool mentors.

The Make Space at Lassonde Studios is an open area with tools and other resources for all university students to work on any type of projects. Limited material is provided for free for use on our machines. Below is a non-exhaustive list of our tools. Note that this may change without warning.


Tool Mentors

Your greatest resource in the make space are the tool mentors. Ask them for help with anything from setting up your 3D print, finding a tool, or how to use the laser cutter. If you want to
make a project but don’t know how or what tools to use, they can help with that too!


Shop

The shop contains a variety of tools for wood and metal projects. To be approved for access, students must complete the mandatory safety training and must have personal medical insurance.

Front Desk Tool Checkout

Some tools are available to checkout at the front desk on the first floor of Lassonde Studios. To check out equipment, tell the front desk attendant what you want to checkout, and they will record your UCard information. See front desk tool inventory here.


Software

The Make Space uses the following software for certain tools, which is either free or available for free for students through the Office of Software Licensing. Knowledge of this software is not a prerequisite to use the tools, so ask the tool mentors for help!
